Leonardslee Gardens are described as ‘The Finest Woodland Gardens in England’ and are noted for the outstanding displays of rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias, magnolias, and bluebell collected from all over the world. First planted in 1801, the garden is set in a steep-sided valley offers a unique landscape to walk and enjoy – lakes, woodlands, and parkland, as well as a Pulham rock garden and rare colony of wallabies and deer. Leonardslee is also home to The Doll’s House”, created in 1/12th scale this extensive exhibition has captivated visitors young and old. Show casing a variety of scenes from a country estate in the 1900’s it was designed and built with a real sense of fun! The new owner of the estate in 2017, entrepreneur Penny Streeter OBE has created new facilities that include tea and refreshment rooms, a gift shop and delicatessen featuring estate and locally sourced produce.
Price: £39.00 includes return travel by luxury coach and entrance into Leonardslee Gardens.
Please note – the lower gardens are not accessible currently by wheelchairs or mobility scooters due to the steep slopes that need to be climbed on your return journey. However, a buggy shuttle service is in operation most days and available to enable visitors with limited mobility to access the lower gardens and lakes. The buggy service operates between the Clocktower Café and Engine Pond, it does not provide a tour. Buggies operate on a first-come, first-served basis and queues can be expected. This service relies on volunteers and is subject to availability.
First pickup – Halstead 7.30am. Back in Dunmow around 6pm.
