Includes return travel by luxury coach, scenic drive through Thetford forest and entrance to Bressingham Garden & Steam experience with unlimited narrow gauge railway rides and three rides on the gallopers roundabout.
This morning, we take a scenic drive through parts of Thetford Forest to enjoy the seasonal colours before arriving at Bressingham Garden & Steam Experience and enjoying the autumn colours there. Bressingham is the home of Alan Bloom’s collection of plants and industrial, mainly steam powered, engineering. A place where he wanted a hands-on approach for everyone to have fun. Originally created on grazing farmland to display the Bloom’s of Bressingham Nursery plants, the gardens today feature over 8000 species and varieties of plants in six linked gardens, including the Dell and Foggy Bottom, covering over 17 acres with breathtaking views. Bressingham is home to 3 narrow gauge passenger railways covering some 3 miles and there is no better way than climbing aboard one of the trains and exploring the beautiful gardens, woodlands and countryside of Bressingham. A visit to the locomotive sheds brings the power and glory of mighty steam engineering up close. The National Dad’s Army collection lets you wander through Walmington-on-Sea looking at original props and vehicles from the popular TV series. Enjoy a ride on the Victorian steam gallopers. There is a café onsite and a restaurant at the garden centre next door as well as picnic tables in the grounds. Leaving Bressingham we enjoy another scenic drive as we make our way home via Bury St. Edmunds and Sudbury to Halstead.
Please note: RHS members do not get free entrance with this group visit as this visit includes train and gallopers rides. The gardens are grass pathways and whilst wheelchair users are able to navigate the gardens with ease, sometimes it becomes difficult especially after periods of prolonged wet weather. The drop off on this excursion will start in Halstead.
