LITTLECOTE HOUSE & Bath Christmas Market
5 days Monday 26th - Friday 30th November
One of our Warner Leisure “Turkey & Tinsel” breaks, offering a relaxing, complete adult only holiday. Littlecote House, on the borders of the Cotswolds, is a superb Grade 1 listed 16th century Tudor mansion in a spectacular setting. Hosting Tudor monarchs, Civil War captains and Regency nobles and an occasional friendly ghost, it was here that Henry VIII courted Jane Seymour. During the week we visit the UNESCO World Heritage City of Bath and its famous Christmas Market and enjoy a scenic drive through the beautiful Cotswolds.
Your holiday itinerary:
Monday – Christmas Eve: Once we have completed our pick-ups we travel round London and onto Windsor (please note there is a walk from the coach park into town). Pausing here for lunch before continuing our journey onto our hotel, arriving mid-afternoon giving you plenty of time to settle in and familiarise yourself with the hotel before dinner. The hotel will be tastefully decorated with rich, classical Christmas decorations throughout with mince pies and mulled wine on arrival. After dinner, sit back and enjoy the spectacular Christmas themed show in the Theatre.
Tuesday – Christmas Day: “MERRY CHRISTMAS”- Our excursion today takes us to the historic city of Bath. The city grew up around its thermal water springs that can still be seen today in the Roman Baths Museum. Bath is also noted for its stunning architecture and the beautiful Abbey. Each year the beautiful area between the Abbey and Roman Baths is transformed into a Christmas shoppers paradise as it becomes the site of the Bath Christmas Market. Over 100 traditional wooden chalets adorn the streets, each offering unique, handmade and unusual gifts, decorations and food items – everything you will need for the perfect Christmas celebration. At dinner, enjoy the festivities as you are served a traditional Christmas Dinner and if you have been good Santa may visit with a complementary present. Afterwards enjoy a fabulous Christmas Show in the Theatre.
Wednesday – Boxing Day: You have the choice today of either staying here at the hotel and enjoy a complete free day or join us on a half day excursion to the market town of Marlborough. Staying at the hotel gives you the chance to take part in the activities arranged by the hotel; explore the Old House or simply relax. Marlborough is noted for its wide High Street which is the setting for the weekly market held on a Wednesday. We return to our hotel early afternoon, giving you the chance to take part in any of the wide selection of activities or Christmas games as organised by the hotel.
Thursday – New Year’s Eve: “HAPPY NEW YEAR” Today we enjoy a scenic drive through the Cotswolds, perhaps the most quintessentially English region in the country. Our drive takes us first of all to the beautiful old town of Burford, whose broad main street is lined with dignified old houses and shops. Continuing our drive we pass Stow-on-the-Wold and Moreton-in-Marsh as we make our way to the picture postcard village of Chipping Campden. One of the loveliest small towns in the Cotswolds, Chipping Campden has become known for its unusual and attractive High Street, lined with a succession of ancient houses each grafted to the next but each with its own distinctive embellishments. We return to Littlecote House in plenty of time for you to prepare for a celebratory New Year’s Eve dinner. Toast the Haggis with the pipe as he plays throughout the restaurant, then continue the fun in the Theatre, which is decorated throughout with Union Jacks to make your evening feel that extra special. Countdown and celebrate midnight with a complimentary glass of bubbly and balloon extravaganza!
Friday – New Year’s Day: This morning we say goodbye to Littlecote House and start our drive home. With suitable stops for lunch and refreshments along the way, we aim to be back home in Essex late afternoon.
